File Sharing
SiteSucker allows you to transfer downloaded sites and SiteSucker documents between your Macintosh or PC and your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch. This can be done using iTunes File Sharing or Dropbox. Procedures for transferring files are shown below.
Using iTunes File Sharing
Before transferring files using iTunes File Sharing:
- Connect your iOS device to your computer.
- Launch iTunes on your computer.
- In iTunes, select your iOS device, click the Apps tab, and select SiteSucker from the list of apps under File Sharing.
Transferring Downloads
Downloaded sites can be transferred between your computer and your mobile device using iTunes File Sharing. However, you can only transfer the top level folders. These folders have names like www.site.com or host.org.
To transfer downloaded sites from your computer to your iOS device using iTunes File Sharing:
- Create a zip archive of the top level folder of each site that you want to transfer.
- Click the Add button under the SiteSucker Documents list in iTunes, select the zip archives to transfer, and click Add. (In OS X, you can also drag the folders or zip archives to the SiteSucker Documents list.)
- When all the transferred items appear in the SiteSucker Documents list, launch SiteSucker on your iOS device.
- Select the Downloads screen and tap Edit.
- Tap Import in the toolbar.
- When all the transferred items are displayed in the Downloads screen, tap Done to finish editing.
To transfer downloaded sites from your iOS device to your computer using iTunes File Sharing:
- Launch SiteSucker on your iOS device.
- Select the Downloads screen and tap Edit.
- Select which items you want to export and tap Export in the toolbar. This displays the Exports screen, which lists all exported items.
- When all exported items appear in the SiteSucker Documents list in iTunes, select them in the list, click the Save to button under the list, select the destination where you want to save the items, and click Save To. (In OS X, you can also drag the items to the destination.)
- Uncompress the zip archives to create the top level site folders.
- On your iOS device, tap Done to close the Exports screen.
- Tap Done to finish editing.
Transferring Documents
To transfer SiteSucker documents from your computer to your iOS device using iTunes File Sharing:
- Click the Add button under the SiteSucker Documents list in iTunes, select the SiteSucker documents to transfer, and click Add. (In OS X, you can also drag the SiteSucker documents to the SiteSucker Documents list.)
- When all the transferred items appear in the SiteSucker Documents list, launch SiteSucker on your iOS device.
- Select the Documents screen and tap Edit.
- Tap Transfer in the toolbar.
- In the action sheet, tap Import.
- When all the transferred items are displayed in the Documents screen, tap Done to finish editing.
To transfer SiteSucker documents from your iOS device to your computer using iTunes File Sharing:
- Launch SiteSucker on your iOS device.
- Select the Documents screen and tap Edit.
- Select which items you want to export and tap Transfer in the toolbar.
- In the action sheet, tap Export. This displays the Exports screen, which lists all exported items.
- When all exported items appear in the SiteSucker Documents list in iTunes, select them in the list, click the Save to button under the list, select the destination where you want to save the items, and click Save To. (In OS X, you can also drag the items to the destination.)
- On your iOS device, tap Done to close the Exports screen.
- Tap Done to finish editing.
Using Dropbox
Before transferring files using Dropbox:
- Install the Dropbox app on your iOS device.
- Install Dropbox on your computer.
Transferring Downloads
Downloaded sites can be transferred between your computer and your mobile device using Dropbox. However, you can only transfer the top level folders. These folders have names like www.site.com or host.org.
To transfer downloaded sites from your computer to your iOS device using Dropbox:
- Compress the top level folder of the site that you want to transfer to create a zip archive of the folder.
- Move the zip archive that you just created to the Dropbox folder on your computer.
- Launch Dropbox on your iOS device.
- When the zip archive appears in the list of files, select it.

, tap Open In, and then tap Open in SiteSucker.
- When the SiteSucker app opens, the transferred site is displayed in the Downloads screen.
To transfer sites from your iOS device to your computer using Dropbox:
- Launch SiteSucker on your iOS device.
- Select the Downloads screen and tap Edit.
- Select which item you want to export and tap Export in the toolbar. This displays the Exports screen, which lists the exported item.
- Select the zip archive shown in the Exports screen, tap Share, and then tap Open in Dropbox.
- When the Dropbox app opens, select a location for the zip archive, and tap Save.
- When the zip archive appears in the Dropbox folder on your computer, drag it to its final destination.
- Uncompress the archive to create the top level site folder.
Transferring Documents
To transfer a SiteSucker document from your computer to your iOS device using Dropbox:
- Copy the SiteSucker document that you want to transfer to the Dropbox folder on your computer.
- Launch Dropbox on your iOS device.
- When the SiteSucker document appears in the list of files, select it.

, tap Open In, and then tap Open in SiteSucker.
- The document is sent to SiteSucker. SiteSucker then adds it to its list of documents, switches to the SiteSucker screen, and loads the Web URL and settings from the document.
To transfer a SiteSucker document from your iOS device to your computer using Dropbox:
- Launch SiteSucker on your iOS device.
- Select the Documents screen and tap Edit.
- Select which item you want to transfer and tap Transfer in the toolbar.
- In the action sheet, tap Share, and then tap Open in Dropbox.
- When the Dropbox app opens, select a location for the SiteSucker document, and tap Save.
- When the SiteSucker document appears in the Dropbox folder on your computer, drag it to its final destination.
