Overview

Bank Check Printer is a Macintosh application that prints your bank checks. It is designed to work with standard 8.5 x 11 inch, sheet-fed, three-to-a-page, business-sized checks. The software can also accommodate voucher checks and wallet-sized checks. The bank checks that you use should be pre-printed with the check number and your name, address, routing number, and checking account number. Bank Check Printer isn’t designed to print a stack of single, personal checks.

The Bank Check Printer window initially shows the fields for a single check. This allows you to enter the date, the amount, and the name of the recipient (i.e., the payee) for the check. You can also include an address on the check or a note in the memo section. To print more than one check, toggle the disclosure triangle to reveal fields for a second or third check. (If the Bank Check Printer preferences are set up to print voucher checks, however, the window will only show the fields for a single check.) After filling in these fields, simply click the Print button to print your checks.

The following keyboard shortcuts can be used when the date text box is selected:

Set Current Date: "t" or "T"
Add a Day: "=" or "+"
Subtract a Day: "-" or "_"

After printing your checks, you can click the Clear button to clear all fields, allowing you to enter information for additional checks.

The Preferences window lets you change the check style, modify the font, choose a signature image, choose a background image, and adjust the positioning of printed fields on checks. These custom settings are saved as presets, and you can create as many presets as you need to accommodate all of your checks. Bank Check Printer also provides the ability to export and import presets, allowing you to share your presets with other Bank Check Printer users.

To display an autocompletion pop-up menu for the payee and address fields, check the Enable payee and address autocompletion box in the preferences. Then, when you start to enter a name in one of these fields, the autocompletion menu will display names from your Contacts app that match what you are typing. If you select a name in the menu, that name (or name and associated address) will be entered in the field.

By default, the US English locale is used for printing checks. To accommodate other languages and currencies, check the Apply language preferences box in the preferences. When this box is checked, Bank Check Printer uses the Language & Region settings in the System Preferences.

Bank Check Printer provides a Log window that keeps track of printed checks. The Log window also allows you to populate fields in the main window from items in the log.
