Downloads

The Downloads screen displays a list of folders that contain your downloaded websites.

You can use these folders to organize your downloaded websites. For example, you can keep related sites in their own folders or, for sites that change over time, you can download the same site periodically into different folders.

There is always one folder in the list that is the destination folder (DestinationFolder), which is where downloaded items are saved.

If you tap the Edit button in the Downloads screen, SiteSucker displays a toolbar with the following buttons:

Delete Delete
Deletes the selected folders and everything they contain. The “ SiteSucker” folder, however, cannot be deleted.
Edit Edit
Allows you to rename the selected folder. The “ SiteSucker” folder, however, cannot be renamed. It also allows you to make the selected folder the destination folder.
Add Add
Allows you to create a new folder.

Viewing Downloaded Websites

If you tap on a folder in the Downloads screen, SiteSucker displays a list of downloaded websites that are in that folder. These sites can be displayed as thumbnails or as folders. If you tap on a thumbnail or a folder in the list, SiteSucker displays the corresponding site in a file browser. If you have viewed the site earlier and the Return to Last Page Visited control is on in the Preferences, then the last page visited is shown in the file browser when you tap on a row. Otherwise, the first bookmark for the site determines which page is shown. (See File Browser below for more information on the file browser and bookmarks.)

If you tap on the Thumbnails button, SiteSucker displays the list of downloaded sites as thumbnails. SiteSucker generates the thumbnail when the page is displayed in the file browser. The path for that page relative to the enclosing folder is also shown in the list.

If you press and hold the thumbnail for any site in the list, the thumbnail is removed. You might do this, for example, if you want to change the orientation of the thumbnail.

DestinationThumbnails

If you tap on the Folders button, SiteSucker displays the list of downloaded sites as folders. Folders that do not contain any bookmarks are disabled and cannot be selected. Disabled folders usually contain supporting files from other servers. The list may also include the “SiteSucker.log” file. Tap on this item to display errors, warnings, or other information that was logged by SiteSucker.

DestinationFolders

The SiteSucker toolbar includes a button that allows you to toggle the Hide Disabled Folders preference:

On the iPhone, the tab bar and the toolbar cannot be displayed at the same time, so SiteSucker provides the following button:

Swaps the tab bar and the toolbar on the iPhone.

If you tap the Edit button in this screen, SiteSucker displays a toolbar with the following buttons:

Delete Delete
Deletes the selected items or all items if nothing is selected.
Organize Organize
Copies or moves the selected items or all items if nothing is selected. When you tap this button, a list of folders is displayed. Select the folder where you want the items to appear and then tap the Copy or Move button.
Share Share
Exports the selected items or all items if nothing is selected. See Transferring Files for more information.
Add Add
Imports items from iCloud Drive, Dropbox, or the macOS Finder. See Transferring Files for more information.

Inside Website Folders

If you press and hold the folder for any site in the list (enabled or disabled), the contents of that folder are displayed.

FolderViewScreen

This screen allows you to do the following:

  • Tap on a folder to display the contents of the folder.
  • Tap on a file to display the file in a browser.
  • Press and hold a file to display the file in a Quick Look preview.
  • Using two fingers, press and hold a text file or webpage to edit the file.
  • Enter text in the search bar to search the contents of the displayed folder and its subfolders. (See Searching Downloaded Websites below.)
  • Tap the Edit button, select items, and tap Delete in the toolbar to delete the items. If nothing is selected, then all items are deleted.
  • Tap the Edit button, select items, and tap Share in the toolbar to share the items. If nothing is selected, then all items are shared.

Searching Downloaded Websites

You can search your downloaded websites by entering text in the search bar. SiteSucker will search the contents of the displayed folder and its subfolders. You can search for text in text files, PDF files, and webpages, or you can search for filenames.

This screen allows you to do the following:

  • Tap on a file to display the file in a browser.
  • Press and hold a file to display the file in a Quick Look preview.
  • Using two fingers, press and hold a text file or webpage to edit the file

File Browser

The file browser displays your downloaded files.

File Browser

Tapping the button on the right side of the navigation bar displays a popover. Depending on the file, SiteSucker may display either of these two buttons:

Document Local File
Displays a popover, for files stored locally, that allows you to adjust the webpage's font size, initiate a search of the webpage, or view or copy the file’s SiteSucker URL.
Globe Internet File
Displays a popover, for files on the Internet, that allows you to adjust the webpage's font size, initiate a search of the webpage, view or copy the file’s Web URL, or open the file in Safari.

Buttons in the browser toolbar provide browser navigation, file sharing, access to bookmarks, and the ability to display the browser in full-screen mode.

Back Back
Sends the browser back one page. You can also go back by dragging the left edge of the page to the right.
Forward Forward
Sends the browser forward one page. You can also go forward by dragging the right edge of the page to the left.
Share Share
This button allows you to do the following:
  • Share a downloaded file with other apps, print a file, save an image, etc.
  • Bookmark a downloaded file. (See Bookmarks below for details.)
  • Index all your downloaded webpages, making them searchable.
Bookmarks Bookmarks
Lists bookmarks for this site. Tap a bookmark to display the associated page.

SiteSucker automatically creates a bookmark for the first file it downloads from a site. This file becomes the Default Page, which is the first page shown when a site’s folder or thumbnail is tapped in the Downloads screen. You can change the Default Page by creating a bookmark for a different file (by tapping Share in the toolbar) and making it the first bookmark. The Default Page is ignored if the Return to Last Page Visited option is on in the Preferences.

If you tap the Edit button, you can delete and reorder bookmarks. If you tap a bookmark while editing, you can change the name associated with the bookmark or make the bookmark the Default Page. You can also make the bookmark the Launch Page, which SiteSucker will display immediately after the app is launched.

EnterFullScreen Enter Full Screen
Enters full-screen mode by hiding the status bar (where appropriate), navigation bar, and toolbar. Swipe down to show the toolbar; swipe up to hide the toolbar again.
ExitFullScreen Exit Full Screen
Exits full-screen mode by displaying the status bar, navigation bar, and toolbar.
