SiteSucker Screen

The SiteSucker screen shows the Web URL (Uniform Resource Locator) being downloaded, the current status of the download, and the toolbar.

Web URL

Use the Web URL text field to specify a resource to download from the Web. SiteSucker will accept any valid URL that begins with one of the following:

  • http://
  • https://

If you enter a URL that doesn't include "://", SiteSucker will automatically add "http://" to the beginning of the address.

Status Indicators

SiteSucker shows the status of the download in the SiteSucker screen. SiteSucker includes the following status indicators:

Level

This is the number of levels deep the download has progressed. Levels refer to the number of link levels completed relative to the initial link. The Web URL that was entered to start the download is on level 1. If that page contained 10 URLs, those 10 links would be on level 2. If each of those 10 Web pages contained 15 URLs, then those 150 links would be on level 3, and so on. This indicator shows which level SiteSucker is currently working on.

Files Downloaded

This is the number of files that have been downloaded.

Files Remaining

This is the number of links remaining in the download. Each page that is downloaded is scanned for more HTML links. Any new links found are added to the counter. Note that the counter can decrease and then increase again after each new page is scanned. In addition, some links may be skipped because the page has already been downloaded or shouldn't be downloaded according to the Settings. Unfortunately, this means that it is very difficult to tell when the download will be complete. This indicator merely provides a rough estimate of progress.

Errors

This is the number of errors that have occurred during the download. If the Log Errors option is turned on, SiteSucker will write the errors to the SiteSucker.log file.

Status

During the download, status messages are displayed in the SiteSucker screen for each file being processed. SiteSucker indicates which files are being downloaded, which files are being analyzed for links, and how much progress has been made. SiteSucker can download multiple files simultaneously.

Toolbar

The buttons in the toolbar allow you to control the download. The toolbar includes the following buttons:

Pause

Pauses the download.

Resume

Resumes the download.

Stop

Stops the download.
